In the mid-1990s, Mike and Maureen Catalogna were making their mark in South Florida's competitive restaurant scene, managing top restaurants and training under award-winning chefs. By 1997, with 22 years of combined experience, they decided to open their own restaurant. They chose Fort Wayne, Indiana, seeing potential in its growth and desire for a fresh, casual dining experience. They opened Catablu in the historic Broadway corridor, revitalizing the area with their upscale, eclectic concept.
For 10 years, Catablu thrived in this location, but by 2009, they decided to relocate to the growing Southwest area of Fort Wayne. In July 2009, they unveiled Catablu Grille on West Jefferson Boulevard, featuring a remodeled, sophisticated space with eclectic touches, including a wine wall with a library-style ladder. The new location was met with enthusiastic support from their loyal clientele.
Mike and Maureen Catalogna, owners of Catablu in Fort Wayne, built their successful restaurant after years of experience in the restaurant industry. Both graduated from Florida International University in the late 1980s and gained expertise in restaurant management and catering. Maureen specialized in large-scale event catering and food and beverage management, while Mike trained under renowned restaurateurs in South Florida, where they both worked in mid-to-upscale restaurants. In 1998, they founded Real Restaurants, Inc. and opened Catablu, a popular Gourmet American Grille. Their goal is to expand their restaurant business throughout Indiana. They live in Fort Wayne with their two children, Katie and Christopher.
